About Dr. Ron
Dr. Ron Itnyre is running for Indiana State Senate to bring common-sense leadership and a stronger voice for local communities to the Statehouse.
Ron currently serves as a senior lecturer of biology and Director of the Office of Sustainability at Indiana University East. He grew up on a 300-acre corn and beef farm, an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to agriculture, rural communities, and responsible stewardship of natural resources.
After earning a doctorate in plant pathology, Ron spent 13 years working as a corn breeder before moving into higher education. His background in science and agriculture gives him a practical perspective on the economic and environmental challenges facing Indiana today.
Ron has also been active in local service, including work with the Wayne Union Recycling and Solid Waste Board, the Richmond Street Tree Commission, and as treasurer of the Wayne County Food Council.
Through his work and community involvement, Ron has seen firsthand how decisions made in Indianapolis affect local communities. In recent years, rising property assessments have increased tax bills for many Hoosiers, while recent state tax changes have reduced revenue for local governments that rely on property taxes to fund schools, public safety, libraries, and roads. Ron is running for State Senate to stand up for rural Indiana and ensure the voices of everyday Hoosiers are heard.
